In his book, A Whole New Mind, Daniel Pink says that story is how humans relate to each other. Story is also a wonderful way to remember things. Have you ever used a story to remember the order of the planets, the order of the metric system, or trig functions? Isn't it easier to remember that story than to memorize the order? Personally I would prefer the first choice. Story is the basis of our society and the connector throughout history! Think about it, how has the story of our nation been passed on down throughout the ages? Through Story! How did your parents get you to go to sleep when you were young? They read you a story right? See the trend?
Gossip is how people relate. I, like so many others, have been pulled into gossip throughout my years, which in essence is a form of story. Story like gossip can be heartfelt or hurtful. Our society is built on story. I know so many people who at night go and turn on the news to see the update on the war, the crime, and the ratings of the new movies and malls. This is story. Story gives people something to talk about, and something to entertain themselves with. Now what would the world be like if we did not have story? Mr. Pink has truly made me ponder this question, and his thoughts have shed some new light on the subject. What do you think?

My mini-saga: In Bordeaux, France in the countryside there was a young girl. She dreamed of city life. Everyday she would sit on the hay and day dream about the glamour of Paris. Then when she journeyed there she discovered that her own heart’s desire was back at home in the countryside. Just like Daniel Pink said, "Mini sagas are addicting", which I most certainly agree with. I enjoyed writing this, and trying to portray a story within the limit of no more or no less than fifty words. This was a challenge for my brain, trying to limit my thoughts and get my point across in a couple sentences.
